Darker by Four by June CL Tan
I wasn’t sure what the FairyLoot book for April was going to be, I’d luckily managed to avoid spoilers as well! When it arrived, the book was just so pretty, and the premise of the book was an intriguing one too!

The Book That Broke The World by Mark Lawrence
Patiently waiting for the sequel to The Book That Wouldn’t Burn was rough! Especially as I wanted The Locked Library version to go with my copy of the first book. The wait paid off, with another stunning edition for an interesting and at times horrifying sequel!

To Gaze Upon Wicked Gods by Molly X. Chang
The April Box for Illumicrate came round, and it was the book I was hoping it to be! I’d seen this one floating around for bit an was considering picking it up, until Illumicrate dropped their theme and teaser for the box. I thought it was going to be this book and I’m so happy it was!

Sky of Fire by Madeleine Carr
One of the reasons Page & Wick is probably my favourite book boxes (other than the fantastic details they put into them) is that more often than not, we get books from authors that are self published. It gives us the great opportunity to be introduced to things that wouldn’t necessarily be recommended to book readers, or found by browsing through stores!

Sunbringer by Hannah Kaner
I’ve been patiently waiting for the latest book after Godkiller! I was lucky to snag an Illumicrate edition to match my Godkiller, and have finally worked my way through my TBR to get to it! The book did not disappoint!

What Monstrous Gods by Rosamund Hodge
The Locked Library’s book for March came around and presented me with such a stunning book that I had never heard of. It was branded as a Sleeping Beauty retelling – however I would strongly disagree with that statement. The only similarity is that a castle is put to sleep and surrounded by thorns.

Dark Star Burning, Ash Falls White by Amelie Wen Zhao.
I was so excited for the next book in this duology and the patience of waiting for the Illumicrate edition had driven me insane. I did debate buying a standard edition, but I really couldn’t bring myself to do it! The only reason I have two editions of the first book was because I didn’t realise Illumicrate had picked it for their box!
After a very stressful Illumicrate sale, the stunning copy was mine and it was everything I wanted in a sequel- Apart from the ending! I am mad at that!

Fathomfolk by Eliza Chan
This was another book that I had on my radar, and was set to preorder but I was holding out in the hopes of a Waterstones special edition. Illumicrate then announced that they were doing a Fantasea box, and the artwork on the announcement looked very familiar to the standard cover.
I’m glad my hunch was correct and that I held off because the Illumicrate edition is stunning!

Wintersong and Shadowsong by S. Jae-Jones
A while back I received Guardians of Dawn book 1 from an Illumicrate box, and it introduced me to S. Jae-Jones. I liked her style of writing with Guardians, so decided to have a look to see if she had written anything else.
To my delight, she had two other books previously published, and what caught my attention even more, was that they were inspired by Labyrinth! (Yes, the David Bowie film). Another intrigue that these books have, is that they are on a banned list in America (I think), or at least the first one is.

A Tempest of Tea by Hafsah Faizal
I’d had my eye on this book for a while, but it was one of those occasions where I felt like FairyLoot were going to be doing an edition of it. Maybe I’m getting good at predicting the some of the books in the boxes!
It had a lot of things I wanted, mystery, heists and tea! It was such a great read, that ending though! I need the next book immediately! It really was one that kept me guessing all the way through!
